PIERRE, S.D.- The licensing fee for boats goes up starting Friday.
The higher fees were approved by the South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks Department in January. The amount of increase depends on the size of the boat and whether it's a one-year license or a three-year license.
The increase for a common boat- a motorboat under 19 feet in length- will increase from $15 to$20 for one year, and from $40 to $55 for three years.
The boat fees are seperate from fees for the trailer license plates.
