PIERRE, S.D. - The state has about $16 million in bonding authority that public schools can use to build or rehabilitate schools.
The money is provided through the federal American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
The state Education Department says two types of bonds are available.
One can be used for rehabilitating facilities and providing equipment, instructional materials and professional development for teachers. The other can be used for new construction or rehabilitation of facilities and to purchase land for school construction.
The application deadline is Aug. 11 for both.
