ABERDEEN, S.D. - A mobilization ceremony has been scheduled for Friday for about 50 Aberdeen-based soldiers heading to Afghanistan.
The ceremony for the members of the Army Reserve's 452nd Ordinance Company is set for 1 p.m. at the Johnson Fine Arts Center at Northern State University in Aberdeen.
From there, the soldiers will travel to Fort Dix, N.J., for training and then on to Afghanistan.
The unit is expected to send another 50 members to Kuwait later this year.
Both deployments will last for one year. Soldiers will be managing ammunitions stocks.
