RAPID CITY, S.D. - Rapid City Regional Airport is getting $1.48 million in federal funds to improve safety at the airport.
The money from the U.S. Department of Transportation will be used to purchase a new airport rescue and fire fighting vehicle and expand the apron where aircrafts are parked.
The airport's Cameron Humphries says there's some congestion in the general aviation area as there's not enough parking. Plans call for tearing down a building to add ramp space.
Humphries expects the vehicle to arrive and the new parking area to be complete by the end of the year.
