SPEARFISH, S.D. - A woman has been killed in a small plane crash on the runway at the Spearfish airport.
Spearfish police say the pilot used his cell phone to call authorities from the wreckage of the plane, which crashed about 8 a.m. Saturday. He was able to get out before help arrived.
Police say a female passenger died at the scene. The pilot refused medical attention. Their names have not been released.
