The crash, which happened at around 8:00 a.m., killed a passenger in the Piper Warrior 28. The pilot, who survived the crash, was able to call authorities for help.
The two people on board the plane are from Montana. A funeral announcement for Shirley Van Zee of Townsend, Montana identifies the passenger killed. Her husband, Glen Van Zee, was apparently trying to land the plane when it hit a tree at False Bottom Creek and crashed on the runway.
