RAPID CITY, S.D. – The South Dakota Department of of Public Safety and highway patrol say a Rapid City man died in a one-vehicle crash on S.D. Highway 44 near Johnson Siding on Thursday, Feb. 13.
Donald Vannorman, 27, was the passenger in a 2005 Nissan Titan driven by Sara Christine Keyte, 26, of Rapid City. The westbound vehicle drifted onto the north shoulder. When the driver attempted to bring the vehicle back onto the roadway, it crossed both lanes, entered the south ditch and dropped off an embankment into Rapid Creek.
Vannorman, who wasn’t wearing a seatbelt, was in the backseat. He was ejected from the vehicle into Rapid Creek. He was taken to a Rapid City hospital, where he died on Friday.
Keyte said she removed her seatbelt to leave the vehicle and search for Vannorman, her husband. She suffered minor injuries.
