Anderson wins last PRCA bronc match of season before finals, more arena action coming at Faith Stock Show & Rodeo

FAITH, SD – The 112th Faith Stock Show Rodeo is underway.  Last night (Wed., Aug. 11) was the PRCA U.S. Open Xtreme Broncs Match, the last chance for cowboys to earn points towards the PRCA Xtreme Broncs Finals set for August 21 during the Central States Fair in Rapid City, S.D.

The young up and coming cowboy from Canada, 22-year-old Ben Anderson climbed on “Lunatic From Hell,” from the Burch Rodeo string out of Wyoming, scoring an 88.5 for the win.

Anderson’s dad wanted him to ride for another year on his novice card in Canada in 2019. Rod Hay hosted a bronc riding, Ben said if he won that he was going pro. That happened and he was second in the rookie standings behind Stetson Wright in 2019. More importantly, he won the rookie title in the Canadian Pro Rodeo Association.

Anderson made his NFR debut. He finished 14th in the world standings with $108,346. He currently sits 17th in this year’s standings.

Shorty Garrett, Eagle Butte, S.D., scored an 88 on Bud Longbrake’s “Pete Longbrake,” for a number two slot at the Faith Bronc Match.
