STURGIS, S.D. – At this week’s Meade County Commission meeting, Kevin Forrester turned in his resignation as Meade County Auditor.
Forrester was given the role following the resignation of Lisa Schieffer in May. By state statute, the board makes appointments when there is a vacancy in the office of an elected official such as the auditor.
Forrester told commissioners that the office has grown “immensely” over the seven months he’s served as auditor. He said he feels strongly that the office staff are effective and will keep the office moving forward.
After accepting Forrester’s resignation, the commission approved the appointment of Chief Deputy Auditor Helen Hall Jensen as auditor effective beginning Jan. 26 at a salary of $65,000.
Forrester recommended Hall Jensen to serve as auditor.
