Meade 46-1 Superintendent submits resignation

STURGIS, S.D. – The Superintendent of the Meade 46-1 School District has submitted his resignation.

Don Kirkegaard tendered his resignation at this week’s school board meeting.

His resignation will become effective June 30, 2022, meaning he will finish off the 2021-2022 school year.

The Meade 46-1 School Board had said that Kirkegaard would be brought in on an interim basis only. He returned to the Meade School District after serving two years as superintendent at the West Bend, Wisconsin School District.

The school board approved hiring a firm to help find a new superintendent.

The board will meet October 6th to interview search firms before choosing one to do the district’s search.
