New COVID-19 cases Friday total 47; two new deaths reported

PIERRE, S.D. – The number of new COVID-19 cases Friday totaled 47 and of those, 10 were listed as probable. It is the lowest number of daily cases since March 15th when 23 cases were reported.

Active cases continued their decline as well today as they tumbled another 46 to 890.

The number of people hospitalized due to the virus held relatively stable – down one to 67.

Two new COVID-19 related deaths were reported, sending the state’s total to 1,991. The new deaths reported were a man and a woman in the 70-79 age range from Minnehaha County.

Across the Black Hills area, there were 17 new confirmed cases and no probable cases.

The bulk of the cases were in Pennington County, where 15 positive tests were reported.

The other two new cases were in Lawrence and Custer Counties.
