Rapid City Police believe video evidence of stabbing may exist

RAPID CITY, S.D. – Rapid City Police believe more evidence regarding last week’s fatal stabbing on Surfwood Drive exists.

Police believe that a group of witnesses were present when the stabbing occurred and that events around the time of the incident may have been recorded on cell phone video.

Rapid City Police Department officers were dispatched in the early hours of October 19 to the area of 120 Surfwood Drive for a report of a stabbing that had just occurred.

When they arrived, police located the injured may lying on the ground. They located several stab wounds on the man when they examined him.

The injured man, who later died from his injuries, was identified as 24-year-old Leon Richards of Rapid City.

Police have been searching for a suspect in the case.
