Scooper Soccer gears up for 2022 campaign

STURGIS, S.D. – The Sturgis Scooper Soccer Teams are gearing up to open their 2022  campaign.

The Scooper boys open up the season a week early this year, as they travel to Hot Springs Friday.

Tyler Louder heads into his eighth year as coach. Last year, Louder’s Scoopers finished with a 4-9-1 record and missed the playoffs.

Louder lists his returning starters as: Junior Karsen Berndt, Junior Talan Kullborn, Junior Dash Shuster, Sophomore Christian Lemke, Sophomore Carsen Wolter and Sophomore Ty Ferguson. Newcomers for the Scooper boys include Sophomore Calen Allen and Freshman Taylor Colunga.

The Scooper girls, in the meantime, open up the season next Friday with a home game vs Mitchell.

Adam Fitzpatrick heads into ninth season as coach. Last year, the Scooper girls finished with a 5-9-1 record and did make it into the first round of the playoffs.

Returning starts for the Scooper girls are: Senior Emilee Copeland, Senior Cali Ewing, Senior Sawyer Dennis, Senior Maggie Brink, Senior Cheylen Murphy, Senor Lilly Carlson, Junior Jenna Burk, Sophomore Avery Marler and Sophomore Iris Zylstra.
