State B Wrestling Final – Philip crowns 3 champions; Canton wins team title

RAPID CITY, S.D. – The Philip Scotties crowned three champions at the State B Wrestling Tournament to cap off a successful year.

At 152, McCoy Peterson won the title with a 5-3 decision over Seth Peterson of Canton. McCoy finishes off the year with just one loss.

At 160, Burk Blasius won the championship with a hard fought 3-2 win over top seed Jaden Dominisse. Burk also finishes the year with just one one loss.

And, at 195, Cody Donnelly is champion after a win by fall over second seed Jordan Gall of Bon Homme/Scotland/Avon. Donnelly ends the season undefeated.

Jadyn Coller of Philip had a chance at the 126 pound championship, but came home second with a 6-2 loss to Owen Hansen of Burke/Gregory.

Philip finished third in the team standings with 176 points.  Canton won the team title with 216.5. Winner Area was second. The rest of the top six were Kimball/White Lake/Platte-Geddes in fourth, Redfield Area in fifth and sixth. For area teams, Hot Springs was 14th, Custer was 20th and Newell was 23rd.

In the consolation bracket, Philip had two third place winners.

At 106, Kipp Cordes won his third place match with a 3-2, hard fought decision over Holden Hawkins of Sisseton.

At 113, Jace Blasius won his third place match with a victory over Kellan Hurd of Miller/Highmore-Harrold.

In other consolation matches, Ryker Peterson of Philip placed sixth at 120 after a loss for fifth to Gunnar Kvistad of Clear Lake.

Thane Simons of Philip brought home sixth place at 132 and Blair Blasius of Philip won fifth place.

At 170, Caleb Rickenbach of Hot Springs won third place with a 6-5 consolation championship victory over Gavin Jacobs of Elk Point/Jefferson.

At 182, Jesse Hostutler of Philip finished in sixth place and Caleb McGregor of Newell came in fourth place at 195.

At 220, Marcus Harkless of Hot Springs lost to Cole Pranger of Mt. Vernon/Plankinton/Corsica-Stickney in the consolation championship and took fourth.
