Two Spearfish girls win titles at Class A Girls State Wrestling

RAPID CITY, S.D. – The first ever South Dakota Class A Girls Wrestling Tournament crowned champions Saturday evening.

At 112, Maraia Kruske of Spearfish won the title with a victory over Shea Irion, also of Spearfish. Kruske won by fall at 5:56.

At 124 pounds, Paige Denke of Rapid City Stevens won an 8-2 decision over Regina Stoesser of Harrisburg for the title. Denke’s teammate, Celesete Katcheak placed third.

At 131, Cassandra Witte of Rapid City Central placed fourth. Yankton’s Neveah Leonard won the title.

Taylor Gravemen of Spearfish won the 143 pound title with a win over Hattie Baldwin of Pierre.

For Sturgis, Brooklyn Brant fell in the wrestleback bracket for a chance at third with a loss to Hailey Rodriguez of Belle Fourche at 124 pounds. At 143, Madison Snyder won her first match over Clare Moe of Aberdeen Central, dropped her second match to Hattie Baldwin of Pierre and missed the third place bracket with a loss to Ehler Klay of Huron.
